3 Ways to Get What You Want in the New Year

First off, Happy New Year! I know, many of you, as I do, want this year to be wonderful, spectacular, even mind-blowingly amazing! I’m here to tell you, it can happen, but I’m also here to tell you, it won’t happen from simply wishing it to happen. You must go out and make it happen.

Whatever you do this year, make sure you use these 3 tips below. Here are 3 ways to get what you WANT in the New Year:

Create a Vision

The best way to achieve what you want this year is to create a Vision that speaks to you personally. We all have goals or resolutions, but they are nothing if they are not backed up by something bigger. You need to see the big picture of why you have a goal or resolution. Why do you want to lose weight? What makes you want to travel more? Why do you want to own your own business?

Taking time to write down the way you want your life to be, or, your “Vision” will help you see why you want the things you do and what your goals really mean to you. Make sure you ask yourself why you’re doing what you’re doing. Also, ask yourself how you want to feel after finally reaching that goal. Most of the time, the reason we have a resolution or goal is to simply feel better about ourselves, others, and the lives we lead. We want greater freedom, happiness, and fulfillment.

So, before you go out and start your resolution, make sure you make the connection of what your true life vision is. Once you see your vision, it’ll be more motivating to continue on with it when you see where you could be and how you could fee.

Make a Commitment

It’s not enough to tell ourselves what we want to do in the new year, we must make a solid commitment to achieve it. Making a commitment means you have eliminated any possibility of giving up. Instead, you make a promise to yourself to keep going, to keep working hard at what you want.

And it’s okay to fall. It doesn’t mean your commitment is broken. A true commitment means that no matter what happens, good or bad, you keep going. You work through it. And because of that, great results are born.

Believe in Yourself

Having a vision and making a commitment are wonderful things, but it’s the belief that you can do what you want that creates lasting change. Many of us talk a big game, but when we are all alone and thinking about our future and what we truly want, we tend to doubt ourselves. It’s easy to criticize others, but it’s even easier to criticize yourself. You may not think, deep down, that you truly deserve whatever it is you want. Whether a relationship, career, promotion, or something else, the point is, you won’t get it unless you believe you deserve it. You are intelligent enough, you are brave enough, you are beautiful enough, but it doesn’t matter how much I tell you that; you must believe it yourself.

Take time and think about who you are. What do you say to yourself? How do you truly feel about who you are? Writing it down always helps. Whatever you do, after you’ve realized who you are, rid yourself of any negative thoughts you may have and instead, replace them with loving, kind words and say them to yourself. Believe in yourself and the world is yours.
