This is an interesting survey and you hit the nail on the head here. You really only have two options: Change what you’re doing or use your outside time in ways that make it not matter as much. I’ve always had an issue with people who don’t like their job and let it absolutely take over their life. Work isn’t the only thing. Finding personal fulfillment outside of work is hugely important. And it minimizes the impact of a “bad day” at the office.

    Thanks for sharing!

Hi Robert: Your second point of using your time off work to do something you love reminds me of something called “Your Sacred Dance”. Keep your day job because you need to make a living, but at night paint, play music, hone your crafting skills, or do whatever it is that you love to do. Then, one day, if you keep at it, what you love to do can actually become your day job.

Something else you can do is reevaluate your current job and see if you can achieve the same outcomes but in ways that appeal to you more.

eg. are you in sales but would rather be in development? Why not start thinking of creative ways your clients can use your products. You are now kinda doing development but having fun and potentially increasing opportunities for sales at the same time.

Hate your job best solution is change it and search new job which you like. This is my observation that every man`s destiny pull him to him for particular job at least suggest to him his vocation. If you neglect and choose job on somebody`s advice you disappointed in that job.Change that job as early as possible otherwise you suffer life long.

It’s definitely nice when you love what you do, it doesn’t even feel like work.

Thanks for the great post. Good advice! Work day to day can be extremely difficult. Is the answer to enjoy what you do or do what you enjoy? It’s tough. Thanks for you insight though.

I stumbled upon this blog like I did yours. Though their insight on work was very meaningful: http://burisonthecouch.wordpress.com/2009/12/31/our-house/

Thanks for the post! I’d love to see more like it.
