    Hello. I think a healthy diet is important for everybody, not just to lose weight but to have a ton of energy during the day to do the things you want. I used to eat a lot of junk food for many years, and I can say that it definitely takes a big commitment to change. But once you get over that first step, it does get easier. I’m eating healthier than ever now and I feel great. Thanks for this post.

    Ali – Writing things down is the biggest key, at least it was for me. I jumped into the abs diet from men’s health with both feet, and cheated big time until I wrote it all down. Once you have to answer to that list of what you ate, you change your tune

    Writing down what you eat is essential. But for me, staying committed to a diet is only possible with exercise. I do twenty minutes of brisk activity daily, and that helps regulate my appetite and keeps me eating well. My problem isn’t an overwhelming desire for junk food. I love real food a lot. I’m the person who sincerely loves fruits and vegetables, fish, and yogurt. My biggest vice is chocolate! But I can live with a tiny bit of dark chocolate. Emotional eating is my problem. When I exercise, I blow off steam and center myself emotionally and I’m cool.

    I started my fitness journey this past January with 90 days of Turbo Fire, an at home cardio kickboxing program. The hardest part of commitment for me is changing my eating habits. I fell right into a 6 day a week exercise routine, because I quickly became addicted to those workouts. But growing up with poor eating habits really complicates eating healthy.

    I couldnt agree more with the “gradual changes” comment. It has really taken me a lot of work. At the moment my goal is to avoid candy except on weekends. I started by switching to mixed grain and then whole grain pasta and bread. And I have really stepped up with my fruits and vegetables.
