Nice post. We should all set goals and make sure that they’re in line with who we are and what we really want. I also completely agree that you have to enjoy the journey; sure, you’ll probably have to make certain sacrifices along the way, but that’s OK as long as you’re not putting your life on hold and you’re sure that it’s for something you really want.

Very nice article. The importance of self image is vital – it all starts in the mind and works its way out. I don’t think, however, that one’s natural talents should be very confining – I used to be terrified of public speaking but now it’s part of my job and I really rather enjoy it. If you want to become more confident and outgoing, then I believe you can. In fact, I believe anything is possible. Thanks for the post – good job!

    Lori -

Excellent post. All your points are well taken. I consider goal is a process of finding who you are and what makes you happy and then use that what makes you happy as a tool to reach life of abundance. As I’ve outlined in my article,
    http://www.pickthebrain.com/blog/5-ways-to-bury-a-great-idea/#more-503
one must develop intense desire, have strong faith and strong conviction to believe that best and fulfilling life is to arrive.

    Marelisa,

Thanks for the response. True, we all make some sacrifices to get where we want to go. It’s just important to balance sacrifice with enjoyment. Everything in moderation, as my Dad always said!

    Michael,

You make a good point…just because we don’t have a natural ability for something doesn’t mean that we can’t acquire the skill if we want it badly enough. We just have to make sure we’re not battling against our own nature and making ourselves miserable trying to be somebody or something we’re not. As you said though, sometimes we can push our own limits a bit and find that we enjoy something we once feared. Thanks for bringing that up!

    Edgar,

Real goals are the key to success aren’t they?

    Shilpan,

Thanks for the response. I read that article and it is right on the money!

Hello Marelisa, “Real” and Strong Goals are the single most important thing for achieving sucess in the “life game”.
Inertia always wins if you dont have a realy strong why.

    A great hug from Portugal!!!

Love the post – Just want to add that when you begin setting your goals – your goal needs to be something you personally desire. If you’re trying to achieve something that someone else wants, your fighting an uphill battle that will more than likely be lost.

    Eugene,

Thanks for the quote – it’s lovely.

    CindySense,

Amen sister! We all know how impossible it is to get someone else to do what we want them to do (ever try to get someone else to quit smoking or lose weight?)…but it is equally difficult to get ourselves to do something that our heart isn’t really in.

Our goals have to be just that – ours. That’s the only way we can even hope to attain them or to enjoy the process.
