Knowing what your passion is can be great for your professional success and personal happiness. On the other hand, not being sure what you want to do in your life or career can be very scary and can cause undue pressure and anxiety. Since we often equate passion with life purpose, failing to identify where your passion lies can make you feel as if your life lacks meaning, or that you\u2019re insignificant.<\/p>\n

The good news is, there\u2019s no expiration period for finding your passion. It doesn\u2019t matter if you\u2019re 40, 50, or even 80 – what\u2019s important is that you keep an open mind that discovering things about yourself is an ongoing, continuous process. It\u2019s also important that you nurture an indomitable spirit<\/a> that makes you unafraid to find and pursue your passion even when you think you\u2019re a little late in the game.<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s how you can discover what your passion is later in your life.<\/p>\n

  1. Connect with people in your community<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Being in a community of like-minded individuals provides a support system that you\u2019ll need to help you discover your passion. If there\u2019s one thing common about passionate people, it\u2019s getting themselves into action<\/a>.<\/p>\n

    A community where there\u2019s sharing of ideas and where people promote collaboration can be inspiring as you channel your energies toward your goal. Even better is building your own community<\/a> and welcoming people into it, as it makes the journey of discovering your life purpose more special and meaningful.<\/p>\n

    1. Dare to be different
      \n<\/strong>
      \nNot all people will understand or support you in your pursuit of passion. Sometimes, even your parents or siblings will need time to accept that you are your own self with different interests or inclinations from everyone else in the family.Be brave enough to try something new or something that you love even though you might encounter resistance, ridicule, or rejection. It doesn\u2019t mean you\u2019ll be severing relationships with anyone who doesn\u2019t think or feel like you do – it just means you refuse to conform to others\u2019 expectations of you.<\/li>\n
    2. Explore all your potentials<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      We are all born with a unique talent or capability, but what we do with it depends on how we are wired. Some people focus on that single ability to become what they believe they\u2019re meant to be.<\/p>\n

      However, if you are someone with multiple potentials<\/a>, you shouldn\u2019t let your natural strength limit your options in life. You could be many things all at the same time.<\/p>\n

      If you have a corporate career and feel like you still have the energy to explore things outside of your expertise, then by all means, do it. When you decide to do something else outside of your routine, you\u2019re opening up opportunities for self-discovery and self-appreciation.<\/p>\n

      Try something totally different or unfamiliar. You might not be good at it right away, so be prepared to fail the first few times or so. Whatever you choose to do, the most important thing is that you\u2019re enjoying yourself.<\/p>\n

      1. \u00a0Love what you do<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

        You might think, \u201cIsn\u2019t it supposed to be the other way around – that I should do what I love<\/a>?\u201d It\u2019s true that there are people who won\u2019t think twice of quitting their job the moment they feel that they\u2019re no longer happy with doing the same thing every day or that they no longer find it challenging or fulfilling.<\/p>\n

        However, if the odds at stake for quitting your job are too high, you could try to learn more about your work until you become passionate about it. Remember that there\u2019s no such thing as a perfect job. Even the most ideal ones would give you moments of exhaustion, frustration, or doubt now and then. Sometimes, tweaking your perspective about your career or your life will make you realize that passion and being passionate can be interchangeable.<\/p>\n

        It\u2019s Never Too Late to Find Your Passion<\/strong><\/p>\n

        Finding your passion can be like a long, arduous journey that can take years or even a lifetime to complete. Don\u2019t let the struggle stop you from seeking what your heart desires.
