{"id":5775,"date":"2011-03-24T22:41:56","date_gmt":"2011-03-25T06:41:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/?p=5775"},"modified":"2013-09-06T12:40:18","modified_gmt":"2013-09-06T20:40:18","slug":"how-to-lose-weight-in-one-minute","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/how-to-lose-weight-in-one-minute\/","title":{"rendered":"How to Lose Weight in One Minute"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.almightydad.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/jumping-jacks-bw.jpg\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Grooving to the Clock \u2013 1 Minute Interval Workout<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Working out can get stagnant and boring if you\u2019re constantly doing the same routine over and over.\u00a0 It also gets monotonous for your body and muscles; you gain less and plateau quickly.\u00a0 To get the type of fitness results and body most people are looking for; athletic, muscular and toned, it helps to get your heart rate up while working out, but not only on a treadmill.\u00a0 The point of this article is to help you get a great workout and maybe even have some fun while you do it!<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><strong>What kind of workout is this?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a circuit-training workout, but most people are poor personal motivators and before you know it they are sitting at a machine for 3 minutes or socializing for 5.\u00a0 The point of this workout is to keep you having fun, focused and on a schedule that keeps you moving.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The 1-Minute Music Mix<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019ve ever heard of a power hour, you are already one step ahead.\u00a0 Power hour is a drinking related game, but we\u2019re going to switch that around and use it for a better purpose.\u00a0 It\u2019s fun!\u00a0 What you\u2019re doing is making a play list of 1-minute clips of your favorite songs back to back.\u00a0 Every song is 1 minute!\u00a0 If you need help making a mix for your Ipod or if you want to use your Smartphone and access play lists that are already on line, do a Google search for \u201cmaking a power hour mix\u201d or something similar.\u00a0 You will be an expert in no time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What muscles should I target?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Focus mainly on the major muscle groups as these are the most important and your secondary muscles still greatly benefit.\u00a0 If you plan to add in some specific muscle exercises, it\u2019s a general rule to start with more major groups first and work towards secondary groups.\u00a0 Starting with bench press and pull-ups, and eventually doing tricep extensions and curls would be a good example.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How many reps should I do in each set?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>People have different fitness goals in mind and may want to use different weight levels, and that\u2019s fine.\u00a0 In general, select a weight that will allow you to do around 15-25 reps.\u00a0 This will get your muscles pumping, but keep your lungs breathing and should work out perfectly with your 1 minute intervals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How do I add in my hot new music mix?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now you\u2019re ready to pump it up!\u00a0 You\u2019ve got your favorite songs ready to rock, all in 1-minute segments.\u00a0 What you\u2019re doing is switching exercises every time the song changes. Let me show you an example segment to help:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minute 1 \u2013 Chest \u2013 Get onto the bench press or similar machine and crank out a set.\u00a0 Go until you are tired or until your song changes.<\/li>\n<li>SONG CHANGE \u2013 SWITCH EXERCISES<\/li>\n<li>Minute 2 \u2013 Back \u2013 Hop onto the pull-up bar or lat pull down machine and get after it.<\/li>\n<li>SONG CHANGE \u2013 SWITCH<\/li>\n<li>Minute 3 \u2013 Abs &#8211; Get on the floor and do a set of crunches until your music changes.<\/li>\n<li>SONG CHANGE \u2013 SWITCH<\/li>\n<li>Minute 4 \u2013 Chest \u2013 Get back to your chest exercise and repeat.\u00a0 SONG CHANGE<\/li>\n<li>Minute 5 \u2013 Back \u2013 Do a set of rows.\u00a0 SONG CHANGE<\/li>\n<li>Minute 6 \u2013 Tired? Grab some water for a minute and get ready for the next 5 minutes of exercises.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Use Creativity!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As I said before, this is a quick example to give you an idea of what I\u2019m talking about.\u00a0 Move around the gym, mix it up, and work your own personal favorites into this routine.\u00a0 The most important thing is that you\u2019re loving your music and staying on schedule!\u00a0 It may be hard at first, but you\u2019ll quickly get the hang of it and have a good mental clock for timing your exercises.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How long should I do it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The length that you do this workout will depend on your fitness level.\u00a0 The goal is to push yourself, but please do not overdo anything and cause any injury.\u00a0 This is a guideline and you should feel free to use your 1-minute songs for resting.
