And each of us deals with that instance of our lives differently. But, what I\u2019ve learned works for me is traveling. Although I haven\u2019t traveled much and gone too far, most of the people I\u2019ve met on my trips had one thing in common \u2013 they believed their journeys made them better and improved. And indeed, after every trip I took I felt better, invigorated, like every experience was an upgrade of me as a person. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, if you\u2019ve had some emotional turbulence or are just not feeling good about yourself, here are some ideas about what could help you self-improve while traveling.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Meeting new people will build up your confidence.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The great thing about traveling is that you get to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/blake-boles\/20-non-awkward-ways-to-meet-people-_b_8100950.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">meet people<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and especially if you travel abroad you get to know travelers from all around the world. Don\u2019t be shy or withdrawn, but start a conversation and exchange experience with them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/5-ways-traveling-can-change-your-world\/\">outside your comfort zone<\/a> and up for an adventure, so be adventurous. They could give you some hints about the place you\u2019re going to, or be companions when sightseeing, as well as support that will empower your self-esteem. <\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Unfamiliar is good and welcoming.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The best way to fully immerse yourself in the destination you\u2019re visiting is to choose a culture and country you know only the basics about. This means that you don\u2019t know the language or the city, so you have to be resourceful and open-minded. Most of the time you will probably use a kind of pantomime to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bemytravelmuse.com\/how-to-communicate-dont-know-language\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">communicate with the locals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, but after a while, you\u2019ll notice that you\u2019re starting to understand them better and will feel more accomplished and proud of yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Choose a comfortable place to sleep.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51037 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-3.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-3-300x169.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-3-768x432.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-3-460x259.jpg 460w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This may seem contrary to the previous advice, but where you sleep and how you sleep is important no matter where you are. There\u2019s lots of accommodation you can choose from when you arrive at your destination, but if you are already overwhelmed by the fact you are going to an unknown country, like Thailand for example, you might want to book ahead. My experience with <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/1000trees.com.au\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Thailand hotel deals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> online was great and it made me feel more ready to jump into the culture I knew nothing about. The safety I felt at night empowered me for new adventures during the day.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Go to an adventure.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51038 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1125\" height=\"750\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-4.jpg 1125w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-4-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-4-460x307.jpg 460w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1125px) 100vw, 1125px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Constricted by my hometown and familiar faces, I was so obsessed with what others might say and what they thought of me. When I lost the job I loved several months ago, I felt like a failure and this obsession only weighed on me more. To compensate, I decided to try something uncharacteristic for me during every trip I went on. And every time the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/mentalfloss.com\/article\/71144\/8-reasons-little-adrenaline-can-be-very-good-thing\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">adrenalin<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and exhilaration hit, I noticed I cared less and less what others thought until I wasn\u2019t bothered by other people\u2019s opinions of me anymore. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The truth is, the only important opinion about you is your own. And it got better after every journey I had.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>You control your travel and you alone.<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Consider your travel to be a sort of a world inside the world, or more poetically a bubble within a bubble. However you choose to travel, with everything planned to a T or just with a backpack on your back and to jump into the unknown, the point is to always control what you do and what you would or wouldn\u2019t like to experience.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-51039 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-5.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"940\" height=\"614\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-5.jpeg 940w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-5-300x196.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-5-768x502.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/07\/Image-5-460x300.jpeg 460w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 940px) 100vw, 940px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This may seem hard to those of us who are too nice to say when something is not up to their standards or expectations, but there\u2019s no more ideal place to start standing up for yourself than on your travels. All those upgrades you want to have are already inside you, locked with fear and inhibition. So, you won\u2019t become someone else, you will actually truly be the person you were intended to be all along. So close your eyes and place your finger on the map \u2013 the country you blindly chose is your next destination.
