Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, commonly known as Michelangelo, was an Italian Renaissance painter, sculptor, architect, poet, and engineer.\u00a0 His work in each of these fields was absolutely ingenious.<\/p>\n

When you take into account the quantity of correspondences, sketches, and reminiscences that currently exist, Michelangelo is the best documented artist of the 16th<\/sup> century.<\/p>\n

Two of his most popular works, David and the Piet\u00e0, were sculpted before he turned thirty.<\/p>\n

As an artist he created two of the most influential works in the history of Western art: the scenes from Genesis on the ceiling and The Last Judgment on the altar wall of the Sistine Chapel in Rome.<\/p>\n

As an architect, Michelangelo pioneered the Mannerist style at the Laurentian Library. When he was 74 he succeeded \u201cAntonio da Sangallo the Younger\u201d as the architect of Saint Peter’s Basilica.<\/p>\n

One of the qualities most admired by his contemporaries was his sense of awe-inspiring splendor.\u00a0 It was the attempts of subsequent artists trying to imitate Michelangelo’s highly personal and passionate style that resulted in \u201cMannerism,\u201d the next major movement in Western art after the High Renaissance.<\/p>\n

2. You Have to See It<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cA man paints with his brains and not with his hands.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

What you can see you can do!\u00a0 If you can\u2019t see it, you can\u2019t do it.\u00a0 So what do you see for your life?\u00a0 Do you see more of the same, or do you see greatness just around the corner!<\/p>\n

Before you arrive you must see it; what you see is \u201cexactly\u201d what you\u2019re going to get.\u00a0 So what do you see?<\/p>\n

3. Carve Out the Angel<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set him free.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Michelangelo said, \u201cEvery block of stone has a statue inside it, and it is the task of the sculptor to discover it.\u201d\u00a0 Every person is like that block of stone, there\u2019s greatness inside, but it has to be carved out.\u00a0 It has to be carved out through hard work; it has to be carved out by the individual who can perceive their own greatness.\u00a0 To succeed, you must carve your greatness out of the block.<\/p>\n

4. Have Faith<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cFaith in oneself is the best and safest course.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

To succeed you must believe in your ability!\u00a0 You must be the first member of your fan club.\u00a0 As the famous poem goes, \u201cIf you think you\u2019re outclassed, you are, you have to think high to rise, you must be sure of yourself, before you can ever win a prize, think big and your deeds will grow, think small and you\u2019ll fall behind, think like you can and you will, it\u2019s all just a state of mind\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

5. Aim High<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving the mark.”<\/em><\/p>\n

You can do more than you\u2019re presently doing!\u00a0 You\u2019re capable of accomplishing things that you can not currently perceive, things that would astonish you.\u00a0 There lies dormant in you potential that has yet to be tapped; you have to aim high in order to unlock that potential.\u00a0 Greatness is inside of you, but it\u2019s up to you to release it.<\/p>\n
