And If you were to Google &#8211; &#8220;how to think positive&#8221; you&#8217;d come across half the amount for those keywords.<\/p>\n<p>And the average article on this topic covers common tips most of us are aware of.<\/p>\n<p>In this post, I&#8217;m going to cover <strong>3 uncommon ways to be more positive<\/strong> in your everyday life.\u00a0Practical steps that all of us can take no matter what the circumstances are.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>1.\u00a0Stay true to yourself.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cBE YOURSELF- NOT YOUR IDEA OF WHAT YOU THINK SOMEBODY ELSE&#8217;S IDEA OF YOURSELF SHOULD BE.\u201d \u2015 HENRY DAVID THOREAU<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Some writers will tell you to &#8220;meditate&#8221; to be or think positive. Some bloggers will suggest surrounding yourself with positive people.<\/p>\n<p>Neither of them are wrong. But staying true to yourself is one of the best ways to think in a positive way.<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re false, fake, and portraying yourself to be something you&#8217;re not, positivity doesn&#8217;t exist. Because you&#8217;re lying to yourself. That doesn&#8217;t feel good at all.<\/p>\n<p>And BS&#8217;in yourself leads to beating yourself up. Which then leads to negative self talk.<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side of the coin, when you stay true to yourself there&#8217;s nothing to hide or feel sleazy about. There&#8217;s nothing to feel &#8220;wrong&#8221; or &#8220;immoral&#8221; about. And there&#8217;s nothing to feel terrible or insincere\u00a0about.<\/p>\n<p>Staying true to yourself shows others where they stand, what you&#8217;ll tolerate, and what you won&#8217;t.<\/p>\n<p>When you&#8217;re authentic you make decisions based on your happiness, rather than at the expense of your happiness. And you&#8217;ll only do things that align with who you are and what you represent.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to truly be positive, stop lying to yourself and start being true to yourself. You&#8217;ll become so much more positive because of it.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>2. Stay true to your word.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI CANNOT CONCEIVE OF A GREATER LOSS THAN THE LOSS OF ONE&#8217;S SELF-RESPECT.\u201d \u2015 MAHATMA GANDHI<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>That&#8217;s right. By staying true to your word you&#8217;ll be more positive, and more often too. Think about it.<\/p>\n<p>If you constantly make promises, claims, pacts and vows that are never fulfilled, you&#8217;ll lose respect. And not only will you lose respect, you&#8217;ll also lose respect for yourself.<\/p>\n<p>And when you lose respect for yourself, you won&#8217;t like yourself as much. Guess what happens from there? You&#8217;ll become more negative.<\/p>\n<p>People who stay true to their word get the respect they deserve. And that makes the person who&#8217;s true to their word feel good about themselves.<\/p>\n<p>That helps them to stay and be more positive even when life gets ugly. Honesty builds character, and that helps you to feel better and more positive on a daily basis.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>3. Write down your goals and your dreams.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cALWAYS FOCUS ON THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND NOT THE REAR VIEW MIRROR.\u201d \u2015 COLIN POWELL<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Life is happening 24\/7. And\u00a0any losses, setbacks or disappointments that happen within those 24 hours can overwhelm us.<\/p>\n<p>And it&#8217;s so easy to get stuck in the past and focus on the &#8220;bad&#8221; experiences you face. That&#8217;s why It&#8217;s important to write down your goals whenever this happens.<\/p>\n<p>Why? Because writing down your goals does a couple of things:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>It keeps you focused on the future.<\/li>\n<li>It reminds you of what you&#8217;re working towards.<\/li>\n<li>It reinforces your focus.<\/li>\n<li>It keeps you focused on the right thing.<\/li>\n<li>It keeps you focused on the positive results you&#8217;re working towards.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Focus is an important part of being positive. What you&#8217;re focused on will directly affect how positive or not so positive you are.<\/p>\n<p>So focus on your dreams, goals, aims, and future by writing it down often.
