{"id":37525,"date":"2017-06-01T20:16:19","date_gmt":"2017-06-02T04:16:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/?p=37525"},"modified":"2017-09-12T14:13:41","modified_gmt":"2017-09-12T22:13:41","slug":"3-mindset-hacks-for-unstoppable-workout-motivation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/3-mindset-hacks-for-unstoppable-workout-motivation\/","title":{"rendered":"3 Mindset Hacks For Unstoppable Workout Motivation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p>Your body, as Anthony Robbins has said, \u201cIs the only place you have to live so take good care of it.\u201d\u00a0 But do you?\u00a0 Most of us don\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, the first thing to be cut from the to-do list is usually exercise. \u00a0Maybe it\u2019s because you \u201cdon\u2019t have the time\u201d, or \u201cit takes too much effort\u201d or maybe you \u201cjust don\u2019t like to exercise\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Whatever your internal \u2018devil\u2019 tells you, I\u2019m sure you agree this needs to change. Our bodies were designed to move.\u00a0 When they remain stagnant, we build up stress chemicals and, in turn, start to feel spacey, irritable, fatigued and even depressed.\u00a0 Not a good way to live.<\/p>\n<p>A huge part of health and fitness success is about having a clear vision for your health and body and of course clear reasons to undertake the mission in the first place. If you have a \u2018why\u2019 that has some emotion attached, you will be able to overcome any of the immediate \u2018pain\u2019 or \u2018inconvenience\u2019 you might initially attach to the process of working out.<\/p>\n<p>Having a vision and a \u2018why\u2019 will spark the motivation you need to have an incredible workout every time you strap on your runners.<\/p>\n<p>So, how do you break through these mental barriers? How do you use the power of your mind for good rather than self-sabotage? Here are three simple steps:<\/p>\n<h1><strong>1. Have a clear vision and a \u2018why\u2019 <\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The famous philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche said, \u201cHe who has a \u2018why\u2019 to live for can bear almost any \u2018how\u2019.\u201d This quote is so relevant to approaching any challenge in life, whether it\u2019s a workout or new career.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>2. Practice self-awareness around your thoughts and beliefs<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>The \u201cfather of management\u201d, Peter Drucker once said, \u201cwhat gets measured, gets improved\u201d, and the same goes for your mindset. If you are unaware of the negative thought patterns and behaviours that are holding you back from your desired level of fitness, it\u2019s almost impossible to change.<\/p>\n<p>Your mind will always find reasons why you \u201ccan\u2019t achieve\u201d something and put limitations on your life. Your job is to be aware of these limiting beliefs as they arise and see them for what they really are; fiction!<\/p>\n<p>So, what limiting thoughts and beliefs are getting in your way? Perhaps you feel you look too fat in workout clothes?\u00a0 Maybe you think you are so out of shape, you will never be able to turn things around? Maybe you don\u2019t like to sweat, or maybe you tell yourself you\u2019ll be judged and mocked when you hit the gym?<\/p>\n<p>Once you\u2019ve identified the reasons behind your lack of working out, you can use your mind to reverse these negative, non-productive thoughts and, ultimately, get out of your own way.<\/p>\n<h1><strong>3. Incorporate positive reinforcement into your life (reward loop)<\/strong><\/h1>\n<p>Let\u2019s face it. We\u2019re all motivated by pleasure and rewards. So, rather than beating yourself up for not going to the gym, find ways to hack your internal reward-center and self-motivate.<\/p>\n<p>A great way to do this is to shift your focus to the positives of working out. Think about how much better you will feel, how you will lose weight and how you will have more energy and stamina. If you focus on these positives rather than thinking of exercise as punishment, and thinking about how hard and painful it\u2019s going to be, you\u2019ll soon find it very hard to skip a workout.<\/p>\n<p>Once you build these \u201cpleasure motivators\u201d into your routine and start getting into healthy habits, your results will improve exponentially. Your increased motivation will lead to more purposeful workouts and better results, which, in turn, will lead to even more motivation.<\/p>\n<p>You\u2019ll have a never-ending \u201creward loop\u201d that keeps you spiraling towards better results!<\/p>\n<p>So remember, think positive, practice self-awareness and create a powerful vision and why for your body and health and every workout will be an experience worth having. Once you master your mindset around training the rest will fall into place.
