{"id":36236,"date":"2015-11-01T22:44:31","date_gmt":"2015-11-02T06:44:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/?p=36236"},"modified":"2015-11-04T15:05:34","modified_gmt":"2015-11-04T23:05:34","slug":"30-of-acts-kindness-30-days-growth","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/30-of-acts-kindness-30-days-growth\/","title":{"rendered":"30 Acts of Kindness For 30 Days Of Growth"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><\/p>\n<p>This November 13 is World Kindness Day! \u00a0\u00a0In honor of this important holiday which fuels kindness around the world, we\u2019ve put together a 30-day kindness challenge for you that will fuel an incredible amount of positive energy into your life. \u00a0Each of these acts of kindness is designed to take no more than 30 minutes of your time, and in most cases just a few minutes. \u00a0We want this challenge to be realistic and attainable because we know that its successful completion will leave you pumped and energized about your life.<\/p>\n<p><b>Day 1 &#8211;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Write a letter or send a card to someone you love \u201cjust because.&#8221; \u00a0We shouldn&#8217;t need a holiday or occasion to be kind!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 2 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Post a picture of you and a friend on social media with a comment about the positive impact they&#8217;ve made on your life. Tag them to make sure they see it \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 3 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Try playing the role of a doorman for 10 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 4 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Walk down the street with a bag of quarters, and add a quarter to any meters you see with less than 10 minutes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 5 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create an annual holiday celebrating someone you love. \u00a0For example, we declared June 1 &#8220;Eva and Sophia Appreciation Day&#8221; to celebrate our wonderful children.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 6 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leave quarters taped to a vending machine with a note saying &#8220;Your treat is on me. \u00a0Have a sweet day!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 7 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Buy an inspirational book for a friend going through a tough time. \u00a0Some of my favorites are Emotional Intelligence by Daniel Goleman and The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 8 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write a thoughtful comment on a blog post where the author clearly invested a ton of time and energy crafting it. \u00a0Bloggers love to get positive feedback from readers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 9 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Offer a bottle of water or fresh fruit to your mail carrier.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 10 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Write a colleague a glowing recommendation on LinkedIn. \u00a0You&#8217;ll be amazed at how grateful people are to receive recommendations. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 11 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Send your friend a thoughtful text saying what you appreciate most about them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 12 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Leave a book you find interesting in a public place (e.g. a bus, restaurant, or park bench). \u00a0Hopefully the next person will enjoy it as much as you did.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 13 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Send an article that moved you to a friend. \u00a0If you need some inspiration, here\u2019s one of <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/lifestyle\/magazine\/pearls-before-breakfast-can-one-of-the-nations-great-musicians-cut-through-the-fog-of-a-dc-rush-hour-lets-find-out\/2014\/09\/23\/8a6d46da-4331-11e4-b47c-f5889e061e5f_story.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">my favorite articles of all-time<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> about what happened when Joshua Bell, thought to be one of the world&#8217;s greatest violinists, played violin outside a Metro Stop in Washington.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 14 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Say &#8220;Hello and have a great day&#8221; to every stranger you pass by for 1 hour. \u00a0You&#8217;ll be surprised by how good you feel after this little experiment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 15 &#8211;<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Promote a friend\u2019s business on your Facebook or Twitter. \u00a0It will only take a moment but will mean the world to any entrepreneur trying to get the word out about their business.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 16 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bring water or coffee to your local school crossing guards to show that you appreciate their hard work.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 17 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Go around the house and find five items you can donate to charity. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a good start: gently worn shoes, clothing, canned food, books, and electronics!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 18 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Call someone you usually ask for help from to just say thank you, and make them feel how much you appreciate them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 19 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tape a lotto scratcher ticket to a local gas pump with a note that says &#8220;Good Luck. I hope you win!&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 20 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Put 31 complimentary notes in a jar and give them to someone you love, and tell them to open a new note each day to make it a great month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 21 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Say hello and engage in conversation with a homeless person. \u00a0\u00a0The vast majority of people ignore the homeless as if they don&#8217;t exist. \u00a0\u00a0In most cases, you&#8217;ll find the homeless person to be grateful that you&#8217;ve taken the time to say hi.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 22 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Donate blood and join the Bone Marrow Registry <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/bethematch.org\/support-the-cause\/donate-bone-marrow\/join-the-marrow-registry\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">here<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, if you haven\u2019t already. \u00a0You may just save a life!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 23 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Spend 10 minutes leaving compliments on your friends\u2019 Social Media posts. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 24 <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Send a letter to the elderly to let them know someone is thinking of them. \u00a0\u00a0Here is a great website &#8212; <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.lovefortheelderly.org\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">http:\/\/www.lovefortheelderly.org\/<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8212; with further information.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 25 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Schedule a meet up with someone you&#8217;ve been putting off seeing, and this time make it happen!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 26 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Grab a big trash bag, put on some latex gloves, and spend 30 minutes picking up trash at the local park. \u00a0We need to be kind to the environment too!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 27 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Call a person you\u2019ve held a grudge against and make peace. \u00a0You&#8217;ll feel a giant weight off your shoulders when you do.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 28 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pick five people who have made a positive impact on your life, and send each one a handwritten notes of thanks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 29 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Deliver flowers to a nursing station, and request that they be given to patients who could really use it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Day 30 &#8211; <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Congratulations for completing the 30-day challenge.
