Lethargic? Annoyed or irritable?<\/p>\n<p>Bad moods happen to the best of us, but that doesn\u2019t mean there isn\u2019t anything you can do about them.<\/p>\n<p>The fact is, most of us feel like we\u2019re at the mercy of our moods and try to push through or wait it out instead of taking positive action to improve our state of mind. Many people don\u2019t even believe that it\u2019s possible to change their mood and instead make themselves and everyone around them miserable.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There are some tricks you can use to boost your mood, but the most important thing is making that leap of faith and have confidence that you&#8217;re taking positive action to make yourself feel better. With that in mind, I\u2019d love for you to try this trick that works for me 9 times out of 10 (the other time I\u2019ve got a sinus headache and need a neti pot to fully get back in my good mood groove).<\/p>\n<p>The next time you are in a funk, crabby as hell, blah to the bone or feeling like you\u2019re about to jump out of your skin, try this:<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Stand up.<\/p>\n<p>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Find a spot in the room where you can see your shadow on the wall.<\/p>\n<p>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Start doing a little skippy-joggy motion.<\/p>\n<p>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Loosen up your shoulders.<\/p>\n<p>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do a couple of one-two jabby-jabs<\/p>\n<p>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Make sure that you\u2019re breathing in and out.<\/p>\n<p>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keep up with the skippy-jog<\/p>\n<p>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 If you feel up to it, do your best Mohammed Ali impression: \u201cFloat like a butterfly, sting like a bee\u201d \u201cI AM the GREATEST!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>9.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Do some more jabby-jabs.<\/p>\n<p>10.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Continue until you\u2019re laughing your ass off at yourself.<\/p>\n<p>11.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Resume life in a much better mood.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t have to shadow box; the trick is to do something, anything that gets you moving and helps you break your state.\u00a0 Exercise helps to clear the mind and make negative emotions less intense. Doing something silly and not so grown up is a good way to remind ourselves that life has its good points, too.<\/p>\n<p>Other combinations that work for me and will most likely work for you, too:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Skipping around the house like I used to do when I was 7 and in pigtails.<\/li>\n<li>Trying to do the Crane Kick from the Karate Kid movie.<\/li>\n<li>Turning on my favorite, most cheesy Disco or 1980s music and lip synching my heart out.<\/li>\n<li>Pretending I\u2019m in the scene in Rocky where he\u2019s running through the town and up the steps to the city hall.<\/li>\n<li>Doing jumping jacks.<\/li>\n<li>Pretending I\u2019m Richard Simmons leading a workout.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Sound crazy? Maybe it is, a little, but is it any crazier than barking at everyone because you\u2019re in a bad mood?
