Many people wouldn’t. Trying to avoid failures is a natural thing for people and being content with smaller things seems better than risking it all and failing. Kids, on the other hand, wouldn’t even think before agreeing. So why do you?

When you grow up, you constantly face failing. You learn not to make mistakes in school tests and always be the best. Your parents punish you if you do something wrong and your classmates make fun of you if you stand out or look different. They don’t teach you that there is no winning without losing, though. Failures are what you need to achieve your goals and succeed. Here are some proofs to that.

It can be a good lesson for you

Every time something goes wrong, try to think about it thoroughly. Realizing that a failure is a valuable lesson in life, you won’t be that upset every time you don’t succeed. It gives you a chance to look back and analyze what went wrong and what needs to be changed next time to make it right. Remember that failing is often a big part of succeeding; it is your best teacher and what helps you appreciate it when you do everything right eventually.

Failing makes you realize if you really want this

Sometimes it is hard to go through all the hardships that can make you question yourself and think of quitting. However, if you find an ally in your failure and make it help you move on to your goals, you’ll see how much you really want this and how strong your goals are. Failure makes you either stop or move forward and thus makes you realize how strong your desire to succeed is.

Mistakes build your character

Every stroke of fate tests your will power and resistance. When you overcome this failure, you feel more powerful and you know that should it happen again in future, you’ll be able to deal with it.

It is a chance to try something new

Failing gives you an opportunity to try something you haven’t tried before instead of sticking to your old ways. Lessons learnt from your failures will help you figure out what didn’t work before and what might work next time. That puts you out of your comfort zone. Standing in one place is a bad thing. If success is your priority, you wouldn’t want to fail again and you’ll have to try something new.

It gives you an opportunity to grow

Mistakes teach you that not everything happens exactly when you want it to. However, they also teach you that you need to change your attitude to succeed. Failures are important for your personal growth because they let you learn more about yourself.

Mistakes help you meet new people

When you fail, it makes you look for people who can advise you on this or that matter. It is a way to become acquainted with people who can help you succeed in future.

It makes you revise your priorities

When you make a mistake, it makes you stop and think what you did wrong. It helps you revise your priorities and realize what matters more for you at the moment. Mistakes help you focus on that, take a step back and start over.

It makes you understand that you are not a superman

Life has this habit of giving you certain challenges to remind you that you are not a superman. Sometimes you need to take some punches to become more modest and realize that your mistakes are a chance to look at yourself from a different angle.

—–

The post is written by Jana Rookard, an adventurous writer, blogger and public speaker.
