{"id":35368,"date":"2015-09-03T21:50:32","date_gmt":"2015-09-04T05:50:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/?p=35368"},"modified":"2015-09-08T20:33:40","modified_gmt":"2015-09-09T04:33:40","slug":"5-steps-creating-lasting-change-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pickthebrain.com\/blog\/5-steps-creating-lasting-change-life\/","title":{"rendered":"The 5 Steps to Creating Lasting Change in Your Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-top: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px;\" class=\"sharethis-inline-share-buttons\" ><\/div><p><\/p>\n<p>Believe it or not, change doesn\u2019t come overnight.<\/p>\n<p>There is actually a workable process you can take up upon to cultivate a change in you.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t necessarily mean you need to go through some big, or perhaps even traumatic event in your life in order to create change.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s entirely up to you. You can take charge.<\/p>\n<p>Let me list down the steps you need to take.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1) Get inspired, this is your initial WHY<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>First of all, get inspired.<\/p>\n<p>Be it intentionally or by chance, do what it takes to FEEL that inspiration and bask in it.<\/p>\n<p>That feeling is something you should remember for the rest of your life; it should be your WHY.<\/p>\n<p>So do what it takes to get inspired. Watch videos. Go to a concert. Talk to people. Listen to speeches. Whatever.<\/p>\n<p>Get that feeling and hold on to it tightly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2) Start on your change by doing a TINY piece of work<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The whole idea is to start. Don\u2019t delay. Stop procrastinating.<\/p>\n<p>Without a start, all your inspiration is for nothing.<\/p>\n<p>The best way to start is to simply do so with a tiny piece of work. Take up one small task and just do it.<\/p>\n<p>This is to kickstart your change, to show that you\u2019re serious and ready to try something out.<\/p>\n<p>For example, I believe that\u00a0an obese\u00a0person can start to snowball his change in life to lose weight by continuing to eat junk food, but skipping the soda drinks, and replacing it with water. Or he can go for a walk first before taking up running.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t judge yourself or base your start on others\u2019 standards. Do what it takes to create this change for yourself. You know best.<\/p>\n<p>From there\u2026<\/p>\n<p><strong>3) Continue with small, incremental steps everyday<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Next, continue with the tiny steps.<\/p>\n<p>The whole idea is to not get overwhelmed from the get go and take things day by day.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s always easy to think that in order to create change and attain big results, you need to do something huge.<\/p>\n<p>Nah. Just start small and always create small things. Pretty soon, you\u2019d have done something huge.<\/p>\n<p>From your initial small change, you\u2019d be inspired to continue. The obese person would then feel it\u2019s alright to create more tiny changes, like maybe eating less fries this time.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s how it works. The daily, little pieces of work IS the goal!<\/p>\n<p><strong>4) Bask in that habit, and don\u2019t let it go<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>With the small changes, you\u2019d have created a habit by now.<\/p>\n<p>The idea of a habit is that you\u2019d feel uncomfortable and disgusted with yourself if you DON\u2019T continue with the small changes.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t resist this discomfort. Don&#8217;t go back to square one.<\/p>\n<p>Go with it.<\/p>\n<p>How you do anything is how you do everything, so continue with the small steps so that it can all compile into something bigger.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5) Continue with the inspiration and don\u2019t give up<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, here\u2019s a little twist: Inspiration dies all the time.<\/p>\n<p>It doesn\u2019t last.<\/p>\n<p>If you want that feeling to accommodate your WHY all the time, then keep getting RE-inspired.<\/p>\n<p>This part can be fun, because inspiration is free.<\/p>\n<p>Then repeat the entire process, and don\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n<p>Remember, the work is the goal.<\/p>\n<p>As long as you put in the daily work, you\u2019ve won and achieved something.<\/p>\n<p>Don\u2019t attach yourself to results just yet.<\/p>\n<p>Keep doing small things, continue with the changes and you\u2019d have created something big by then.<\/p>\n<p>By then, when you look into the mirror, you&#8217;d notice something different.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Special Bonus\u00a0for Pick The Brain Readers!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>No excuses!
