Theodor Seuss Geisel was a cartoonist and writer.\u00a0 He\u2019s most popular for his children’s books written under the pen names Dr. Seuss, Theo. LeSieg and once he wrote under the name Rosetta Stone.<\/p>\n

Theodor published over 60 children’s books.\u00a0 These books were often characterized by imaginative characters, rhyme, and frequent use of trisyllabic meter.<\/p>\n

His most famous books include the bestselling Green Eggs and Ham, The Cat in the Hat, One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish, Horton Hears a Who!, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas!.<\/p>\n

Eleven television specials, three feature films, and a Broadway musical have been created from adaptations of Theodor\u2019s work.<\/p>\n

1. Be Who You Are<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cBe who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter, and those who matter don’t mind.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

If you can\u2019t be yourself with your friends, then they\u2019re not your friends, or at least they\u2019re not very good ones.\u00a0 The sign that someone is a good friend is how comfortable you are with them.\u00a0 If you can be who you are, and say how you feel, then hang with those folks, they\u2019ll surely keep it \u201creal.\u201d<\/p>\n

2. Trouble Your Troubles<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cI have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

When troubles show up, you have to show up bigger.\u00a0 Don\u2019t let troubles trouble you; you trouble your troubles by showing up with a \u201cbig bat!\u201d\u00a0 But not literally\u2026.\u00a0 You show up with a \u201cbig bat\u201d by showing up with big courage, big faith, and big determination, if you do, you will trouble your troubles\u2026.<\/p>\n

3. You Decide<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose. You’re on your own.\u00a0 And you know what you know. You are the guy who’ll decide where to go.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

How simple, yet how profound!\u00a0 You decide where you go, only you.\u00a0 You are only limited by your ability to believe in the impossible.<\/p>\n

4. It\u2019s Up To You<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cUnless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

No one is going to rescue you, they\u2019re not.\u00a0 You have to dig yourself out of the ditch.\u00a0 You have to care enough; you have to be motivated enough, to change things.\u00a0 It\u2019s up to you.<\/p>\n

Things only change, when someone cares an awful lot.<\/p>\n

5. Think<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cYou can get help from teachers, but you are going to have to learn a lot by yourself, sitting alone in a room.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

My greatest discoveries have come from sitting alone in a quiet room.\u00a0 Dr. Suess said, \u201cThink left, and think right, and think low, and think high. Oh, the things you can think up, if only you try!\u201d\u00a0 What can you think up?\u00a0 Just try.<\/p>\n

6. The More You Know<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cThe more that you read, the more things you will know.
\nThe more that you learn the more places you’ll go.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

7. Your Mountain Is Waiting<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cToday is your day! Your mountain is waiting.<\/em><\/p>\n

So… get on your way.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Everyday you\u2019re presented with a mountain.\u00a0 You can climb the mountain, or you can play in the valley.\u00a0 If you climb more than you play, you will truly be on your way.<\/p>\n

8. You Are You<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u201cToday you are You, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is Youer than You.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

No one can be you, youer than you!\u00a0 That\u2019s good news all by itself\u2026.<\/p>\n
