You\u2019re nervous because you\u2019re afraid of not doing the task the right way. In fact it told me that I was ten pounds heavier than before I left. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">I smiled in amusement and wondered if it was broken. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">It wasn\u2019t. I had gained weight and couldn\u2019t fit into my pants. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">The day after my vacation, I was waiting for a dose of motivation to hit me so I could go for a 5 mile run. It didn\u2019t happen for a week. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">Then, I had no choice but to wake up one morning and put my walking shoes on and sauntered around my apartment complex. 10 minutes tops. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">I marched around the complex again the next morning for another 10 minutes. And for another day and another day. Then I felt like walking more. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">A month later, I\u2019m still walking but up to 3 miles now. I\u2019ve lost half the weight I gained and now can\u2019t get started with my day if I don\u2019t get in my morning walk. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><b><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">Since motivation will not zap you like a spark of electricity, try this instead. <\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">Motivation won\u2019t commonly ignite in an instant. And especially not when you require it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">So instead of anticipating it, take some action instead. Not just any action but the smallest of steps. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">In the book, Feeling Good: The New Mood Therapy, Dr. David Burns discusses motivation. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">\u201cYour error,\u201d he writes, \u201cis your belief that motivation comes first, and then leads to activation and success. But it usually is the other way around; action must come first, and the motivation comes later on.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">Motivation comes after you\u2019ve taken a couple steps on your own. A couple baby steps. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\"><strong>Follow these 7 steps to help you get started on your next project:<\/strong> <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpFirst\" style=\"text-indent: -.25in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">1)<span style=\"font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">Admit you\u2019re having problems getting motivated. What is the absolute first step? Do you need to buy a tool? Map out an idea? Write an outline? To avoid overwhelming yourself, take only small actions each day until they continue to have a snowball effect. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraphCxSpMiddle\" style=\"text-indent: -.25in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">5)<span style=\"font: 7.0pt 'Times New Roman';\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12.0pt; line-height: 115{54c12dad2cc2b53ae830e39915b1a3e70288dbcbbeb8bbf8395437c5dc3c512c};\">As you start on small steps, you\u2019ll find yourself getting motivated to take bigger steps.
