13 Things We Need To Stop Doing In 2016 To Be Happy

1) Excessive social media

It’s time to simply cut down on this. Yes, you’re becoming unhappy because of social media. We’re experience a dopamine problem as we’re getting to used to information that happens too fast.

When was the last time you actually enjoyed a simply movie without checking your phone?

You don’t have to quit social media cold turkey just yet. Try deleting the mobile apps first. That way when you head out, you can start being free.

2) Pleasing everybody

You can’t. It’s impossible. It’s just going to drive you nuts. It’s even going to make people unhappy with you as you come across as if you’re trying too hard.

3) Reading the news (too much)

Especially when it’s nothing but clickbait content.

These “news” pieces were specifically made to make you click. More often than not, it’s on the disturbing or negative side of things.

Why ruin your day that way? Sure, these things happen, but good things also happen. Remember that.

4) Sleeping late because of merely using your phone

It’s a bad habit a lot of us have cultivated.

Yes, this is making us sleep less. Your thinking, “Just 5 minutes only” is skewed. You know it’s way longer than that!

Go to bed without your phone. Just sleep!

5) Surrounding yourself with bad people and not standing up for yourself

These are not your friends. They only mean to drag you down because they’re suffering themselves. These are bullies.

Stand up for yourself already. You deserve to. You shouldn’t have to put up with that nonsense.

Then, walk away. You can find better friends.

6) Identifying your whole life as your job

I don’t want to say something cliche like quitting your job just because you hate it.

I think the more dangerous thing is to identifying yourself, your life and your entire being as your job.

You’re not your job. You’re you. Your life is what you make of it in this world and not just in the office.

This is how you start remembering how capable you are.

7) Reacting the SAME way at the heat of moment

If you want different results, you’ve to do something different.

If you want to master a certain emotion and get over some issues, you’re going to have to toughen up and stop reacting the same way you always do.

If it’s change you want, then change something. It’s going to be really challenging at first, but it will get easier.

Besides, only real winners who are adults mature that way. Only kids would pout.

8) Gossiping so much

When you talk about other people and their lives, you’re effectively wasting the time you could have used to come up with ideas instead.

And it’d also reflect badly on you. Only insecure people focus on others so much and not themselves.

9) Complaining

Find the solution instead.

10) Spoiling or not spoiling yourself

Stop spoiling yourself if you’re already in debt or have a gambling problem.

Spoil yourself if you know you’ve been working really hard and deserve something nice. You know you do.

11) Arguing on the internet

I’m just going to say it: This is by far the most unproductive thing to ever do in the world.

It’s not going to go anywhere.

And it’s only going to make you unhappy.

So just cut it out.

12) Going after someone who doesn’t appreciate you

Sooner or later you’re going to have to call it quits despite having strong feelings for him or her.

If they don’t appreciate you, then it’s just going to be a waste of time.

Again, you deserve way better than that. Someone out there is a better match for you and would gladly take you for who you are.

13) Holding back

Stop holding back in life.

If you want something, go all out for it. There’s no reason to go at it in a half-assed manner.

Life is too short to not realize your full potential.
