So very true Ali. I have always wanted to go away to a “retreat weekend.” I have read of one where no one talks the whole time, I may or may not like that one depending on my mood.

I totally agree with this article – that’s why I always make time and treasure the time my dogs and I go outdoors to the woods pretty well each day from spring to autumn. During the winter, we might just go in the back where their doggie friends from the neighbourhood might play with them.  But it’s an equally important time off work to recharge as you said.

I have been taking more time for myself lately.  It still feels a bit selfish – I think I will get over that part :)

I’m a natural introvert. I like being social and all, but I from time to time need to find some space and time for myself. Mostly to reflect and ponder over my current life.

Sometimes it leads to breakthroughs and sometimes it doesn’t.

Although many of us feel that we don’t deserve too much and that we have to be the most frugal we do deserve time for ourselves and it is quite appropriate that you wrote this.

I write a section on a similar topic called, “Investing in Yourself” – http://youthfulinvestor.com/category/investing-in-yourself/

Here I argue about how important it is for young investors and those who want to take control of their finances invest in themselves. You don’t need to live rich, but you do need to do things for yourself time and again.

I just joined a Spanish conversation group to develop my Spanish skills. One of the best things I’ve done.

I have thought of getting a hotel room in my own town just to be somewhere else, and to be cleaned up after, and to just shake up my routine. It seems silly, though, to get a hotel room in your own town. Who does that?

When you set the time aside, make others aware this is your time you are not to be disturbed, they will respect that and you will get a lot accomplished.
Writing goals down so you can tick them off when done is (for me) a huge thing. I have so much I am doing in a day, if I don’t write down a list,I forget what I was going to do and nothing gets done.

Spending time on yourself is one of the best things one can do for their health.
It is also important that we not only work on our alone time but increasing our self esteem so when we are around others we can still be as happy as we are when we are alone.

If you are interested in reading and learning more about your self esteem this websites is a great resource filled with many beneficial articles.
