Why You Need To Find Your Purpose

It’s time to create fulfillment, meaning, satisfaction and freedom in your life. It’s time to discover your purpose.

By far the greatest way to create meaning in your life is to fulfill your deepest inner drive; your purpose. This is your one obligation in life. Your purpose is what you have been put on this earth to do – the reason why you were born into this world.

What if you could create a life where you immerse yourself in doing what you love all the time – a life where you don’t need to do the jobs that you are boring and unfulfilling? Well, I’m here to tell you that you can and that by discovering your purpose you will gain the required energy to create that life. Make a stand to not be like most of the people in this world who are willing to spend their days doing things that they don’t really like. It’s up to you to realize that you no longer need to live that meaningless life. You have the choice to create a life with sustained purpose – a life where you have the energy that drives you to do incredible things and create a truly amazing existence.

The person who you are and the events that have shaped your life in the past have always been leading you towards your purpose. Each and every person on this planet is here for a reason, just as every event in your life happens for a reason. The world is very purposeful. You must know that there is a reason behind absolutely everything, and there is a reason for your life. There are no accidents.

Your purpose isn’t necessarily ‘big’ – like Martin Luther King or Mahatma Ghandi. Your purpose may be to be an incredible parent, teacher or nurse, or to bring joy to people through the arts. Your purpose is highly important regardless of the size or scale of reach – every single person has an important role to play.

To discover your purpose, you first need to discover your authentic self and the underlying values that guide your life. Self-knowledge is a knowledge which is greater in value than anything money can ever buy. In fact, I believe that self-knowledge is the greatest asset that you’ll ever acquire during your lifetime.

Your authentic self-knowledge has been lying under the smoke screen of values that society has ingrained in all of us, and it’s time for you to re-discover it. Specifically, to discover your purpose you need to discover your passions, strengths and values – and then combine these unique traits to provide a valuable service to society.

I cannot stress how important answering these questions is. You need to look deep into your heart to truly awaken to the power that you hold within. You weren’t born into this world to idly wish or dream – you were born to awaken you true greatness and shine it upon those who are lucky enough to be blessed with your gifts.

Become A Better Version Of Yourself

At the end of the day, the choice is yours whether to remain in the current circumstances that you are living now, or to do the inner work that will help you truly live a greater life. If you’re not happy today then you simply cannot expect to be happy tomorrow unless you begin to make some changes now.

It is a fact that those who achieve only mediocre success throughout their lives are the ones who always wait for the ‘time to be right’ to do anything meaningful. Lacking courage, these people tend to procrastinate and alas, they never achieve any noteworthy success because the ‘right time’ never ever comes.

Conversely, people who achieve great success know that the best time to act on anything worthwhile is NOW. It is widely accepted that successful people are the ones who are willing to do the things that unsuccessful people can’t be bothered doing. They don’t wait for others to come into their lives to make things happen for them – they take a leap of faith, they muster up the courage to get things done and make things happen by taking action in present moment.

Nobody can tell you who you are, and if you don’t know who you are you can’t fulfil your greatest potentialities. We all have an unexpressed potential, but unfortunately, many of us aren’t aware of our unique gifts. We start our lives with such confidence, love for life and desire to do something great in the world, but as time goes by our uniqueness and our special abilities slowly get smothered by our parents, family, teachers, friends and society who all think they know what’s best for us. For you to shine your unique light you must disregard the person you think others want you to be and begin to discover your values, passions and strengths and start embodying them every single day.

Discovering your purpose can be pretty tough, but it’s definitely worth it.  If you’d like further guidance, the purpose of my book is to help you discover your purpose. The Wellbeing Revolution provides exercises and practices to help you find your purpose and begin living a life of consistent love, happiness and fulfilment.

I agree with your post. I would say If you can’t actually  ‘find’ what you want to authentically love, just do the things that bring you the greatest joy and it will show up in your life. Personally this happened to me…I struggled for years wondering what to be when I grow up and literally one day it appeared! As it turns out, I had been doing what I love in the meantime, (reading, studying) and wouldn’t you know it, what I had previously read were some of the requirements for the course I took. It all fit in perfectly. Trust yourself to know…

I love your message! I did a LOT of research on this subject awhile back for a book I wrote about resilience. At the core of all of the research on resilience is the imperative of purpose – having a reason to get out of bed in the morning and keep going regardless of whatever challenge or crisis you may be facing. And you are right when you say purpose doesn’t have to be a BIG thing – in fact sometimes our purpose is thrust upon us as a result of a crisis, like for Candy Lightner when she created MADD after her daughter was killed by a drunk driver. It’s a fascinating, and important subject – thanks for the inspiration!

Agreed.  Many people struggled to find a purpose in life but couldn’t. Sometimes it isn’t about looking for a purpose but doing something meaningful in life that you absolutely loves it.

I love some of the things in this post. It;s important to know that you fill a certain spot in life and although we all think thats going to be someone famous or rich, it could be a school teacher or nurse. But just as important. Thanks for posting this!

Great post! Thanks for sharing. I like the way that you clear the mistery of you must be someone famous to live on your purpose. Each of us was born with tons of gifts and it’s our job to ALLOW them. Often people think we “figure out” who we are in our head. No, you live to your purpose by doing what you love and being YOU!

It’s very important to find your purpose and true self. But just doing that will not be enough to let you escape from the rest of life. Our society is not at a stage where it encourages everyone to be true to themselves. So in fact when you find your true self you will often find yourself facing difficult challenges.

Look at the great people like MLK and Gandhi that you mention. They did not have easy lives. They also were shot and killed for what they stood up for.

Living your true path is not necessarily just fulfillment and joy. It can also be a burden. But many of us feel we have a responsibility to take on the challenge come what may.

Please correct the spelling of Gandhi. You wrote is as ghandi.

    Thanks.

I have found purpose in conducting a discussion group for inmates in two medium security prisons in Connecticut. I, who once lost hope in my depression, am bring hope to those who have lost theirs.

I truly share that Steve Jobs and great Visionary said we all need to fin d our passion. We all need to find the purpose of the things which we do in our day to day life. We all need to do what we love to do then and then we can enjoy our work and can get best out of it! so true.
