I had to do a DISC personality test for my last job and it was very interesting. they taught us to not only know what WE were, but how to deal with and relate with other personality styles. It was very enlightening and very helpful.

Most often in personal relationships, your partner may be thinking what they would want, not what their partner wants.I had an ex girlfriend give me a surprise birthday party once. This is not me , I hate surprises. She had mentioned later how no one ever threw her a surprise party before.

” If you are the type of person who likes to have a plan, try a day of being spontaneous. If you are someone who is usually reserved, try being a little more open.”

I love personality tests. I find that personal development work will change you around a lot. I’ve scored a lot of different things on MBTI over time. Seems like I’m heading more and more towards ENFJ these days.

I’m an INTJ through and through. We also had another personality ‘colour’ test as part of a group I used to work for. Reds are all about action, yellows about organization, blues are your emotional people and greens are the thinkers, and innovators. I had always felt out of place in the group, and it became clear why after the testing — I was the only green amongst the blues, and yellows…

I actually left that position a few months after that, and now I’m in amongst other greens and I find it somewhat refreshing.

many years ago in the early 90s, it was all about ENFP for me. i haven’t done the “formal” MBTI for a while, but with a little truncated version, i was moving toward ENFJ. one thing for sure – i’m a very strong N. … and indeed, i do love your closing – “By becoming more aware of your personality and that of others, you are more likely to enjoy and learn from the unique personality of everyone you meet.” so very true!

I used to plan my days, weeks and years. People mistook my middle name for control. As you mentioned I tried on a day of spontaneity here and there all for the sake of the love of a man. These days I’m a little less corn-cob uncomfortable and a little more freewheeling. I still enjoy lists, but I can take a journey without a map. CERTAINLY I have learned to notice what makes someone else comfortable or UN, so that I’m not draggin them through my controlling ways when they’re wanting to skip through the daisies. Thanks for pointing out why we might want to notice our differences.

Thanks for all the insightful comments! Very interesting to hear the experiences you all have had with personality typing.
