My only disagreement is with the concept of exordium, or as I see it, wasting the audience's valuable time talking about myself instead of engaging the audience.

I prefer to start right off by asking the audience some questions about their knowledge of and concerns about the topic, and inviting their participation based on their own needs and interests.

They really don't care about me and my background; I've already been engaged to speak, so someone found me credible and worthwhile. If they have questions about me, that's what my bio is for (given out in my packet of handouts).

The other principles, especially the peroratio, are classics and I agree that they are all building blocks of a well-crafted presentation.
