Great post Alex!!!!
I myself want to become an entrepreneur and I hope my visions do comes to a success. I have brothers who as you say over planned their visions who doesn't take action. Which I hoped in the future they'll learn what they have to do to become successful. Which is to take it step by step. You coudln't had said it, any better way! I know you had inspired us all, which i thank you for that.
HOPE FOR THE BEST!!!

@All

Thanks for the comments - I really appreciate the support.

@Juliet, you asked about visioning: here's a good article that explains it. I've often heard it talked about in terms of high performance sports - the athlete creates a vision of them winning and holds onto that vision no matter what.

Here's an excerpt from <a href="http://books.google.ca/books?id=7zDdTC_UhGIC&pg=PA344&lpg=PA344&dq=visioning+success+athletes+-vision&source=web&ots=Fm788Wc-v_&sig=eRNinf1usc2aiQ-r8-quTLbRTc0&hl=en&sa=X&oi=book_result&resnum=4&ct=result" rel="nofollow">Google Books</a> about it.

Hi Alex

Nice points and alternative view.
Can I ask what you mean by "visioning"?

I also think it's important to celebrate along the way.

Wow, I think this post is right on. I think John Lennon said it best, when he said "Life is what happens while you're busy making plans." Yes I agree. Plann the important steps only, not so much the details. The details tend to take care of themselves. Live in the now!

I've been playing with a similar model of planning (see the goal and then work backwards to discover all the things that 'have' to happen before you reach it) so it was cool to see something similar.

Having some tasks that you know you can do each day towards your goal really heaps keep the momentum going.

Good advice Alex. I've got a new program that I've been waiting to launch because it isn't just "perfect yet."

Your article has inspired me into action,

thanks!

Great stuff, Alex. After working in strategic planning and the like for a few years, I've realized in a big way that traditional planning is a waste of time. Even worse, <a href="http://www.blog.neverthesamerivertwice.com/2008/01/02/having-goals-will-make-you-blind/" rel="nofollow">defining your goals too narrowly</a> makes you blind to other opportunities.

By staying flexible, you have the room to pursue interesting but seemingly unrelated opportunities while still making progress toward your ultimate goals.
