I actually went through this process myself 10 years ago and the conclusion I reached was that I needed to work for myself. Since then I've tripled my income, have many more opportunities to do projects I love and get to work from home. As an ongoing career matter, I encourage people to keep thinking about what they do and don't like about their experiences and to use that as new information moving forward. I know I emphasized the reflection point--I think too often there's more action than reflection that goes on--but you're right that experience is a big thing, too.
