Great suggestions, Mark. I find that when we are really in tune with our feelings, we notice that we're naturally drawn to certain people, places, and things. And there is nothing like filling your life with that which draws you near.

Great post mark – you hit the nail on the head… Investment in Hobbies and talents will defiantly lead to a greater a skill level, fulfilment and purpose too many people waste their time on non investment and end up lost in space.. but some times that space can be good because you learn the value of time and purpose.

Yup, agree. When you find your purpose, what you do can have a bigger meaning, beyond the momentary pleasure it gives you. And so, it can generate a deep, powerful sense of fulfillment, the complex emotion which sets humans apart from other mammals.

I would recommend reading the material on mission and purpose found in Steven Covey's 7 Habits of Highly Successful People, as well as the book, What Color is Your Parachute. Both of those have been invaluable to me in charting my life purpose.

Great article, Mark. I love your idea about starting first by determining what you like and what you do well. I think being open to change and taking risks are difficult for most people. But they are so essential to finding your purpose, even if it's not what you thought it would be.

Good advice. I think anyone from Buddha to Ayn Rand recognized the importance of having a life with meaning and purpose. Humans have an incredible capacity to self-define their existence, which distinguishes us from almost all other life on Earth. We can use our lives to do good or to do bad, but it all comes from the same place of awareness and free will.
