Very nice article Sean. The only suggestion I would make is to put the goal and breakdown somewhere you can see it every day, so it is literally in your face every day. I start each new year with a list of goals and/or resolutions, but keep them in a notebook somewhere. Come the next year it’s a surprise if I accomplished anything for that year when I see my list again.

“Out of sight, out of mind.”

Put it somewhere you can see it in the morning as you begin your day and you can check off items at the end of the day. That way it doesn’t fall off your radar and you end up spending another year just letting life happen. You get to wake up each morning with the goal permeating your brain each and every day, actively pursuing the dream with intention and purpose every day.

    Smiles,
    -Layne

Found a partner in Layne back there for her “reminders in various places.” What we see often pull us back toward the path we need to follow, esp. when there’s so much forces from all directions.

You’re right, Sean. We value ourselves more when we’re geared with mechanisms to think, act and celebrate the whole process toward our goals.

Goals are super big stuff. Often goals are overwhelming and too magnanimous for people to appreciate as a whole. But when we chop goal into little bits, they pose greater possibilities for us to achieve. In the long run, pursuing and succeeding in each little goal fuels our esteem and help us consistently move toward the ultimate end.

Thanks for another great post, Sean.

Right on on Layne. How do you keep your goals in sight daily and monitor progress? Is there a good system you know of?
I’ve built my own (don’t want to shamelessly self-promote it here), but always look for ways to enhance it as to make it make it easier to accomplish all the big things I work on (health, family, work, financial independence).
