Thanks for the comments, all -- I'm really glad that this helped a few folks!

Best of luck with your various projects too. The "5 things every day" idea is an interesting one. I'll try to resist the temptation to make 5 daily words on my novel my new goal. ;-)

Good stuff.

By making sure you take action on your project at the start of the day, not have you reinforced its importance by giving it first priority, but you have that wonderful feeling throughout the rest of your day because you did something that was important and meaningful to you.

This is a great post.

I encourage my clients to take deliberate action by choosing and revisiting your priorities every week. A list of targeted activities will help you remain on your quest. Visualize your ideal accomplishment, and then make a list of tasks that can be addressed to bridge and traverse where you want to be in the natural flow of things.

Cheers!

Hi Ali,

I agree with the idea of having a single project that takes the highest priority instead of tackling a bunch of project altogether. Doing the project daily will help build up momentum and gradually it will become a habit of yours. If you apply this principle, you can tackle any project and definitely there will be results.

Cheers

Really needed the message in this post right now. I'm struggling with completing two major projects, and know I need to apply the "first thing" principle.

I've found that after I've caught up on my email, read my favorite blogs, and checked Twitter and Facebook, the day is half over. I also like the "5 things every day" principle.

These ideas should go a long way toward helping me become more productive.

Very informative post. Planning in advance, sticking to the plan and chaniging the plan until I get the desired result works well for me when working on projects. Working on a project first thing, everyday, is a great way to make progress.

I've also started to use a "success principle" from Jack Canfield's book: Do 5 things each day that move you towards your goal. Taking action on a project "first thing" each day is critical - because when we take action on our goal first thing, we are going to make progress. In contrast, when we don't take action first thing, well, we just get caught up!

Thanks for the post!
