For me success has more to do with the lifestyle I want rather than money. Yes a super successful business would be totally awesome, but not at the loss of my relationship, health and relaxation time.

This article is very profound, I have always been very involved with my work at the office and after that was over, I was very much involved in my business and even my three year old often asks me when am I going to get off the computer to spend time with him?

My wife always reminds me of how I am always so deeply involved in making money (working on a job or for my business…). I always tell her that I want us to have a lot but I never really understood how my absence was affecting my relationship with them.

There are many goals I would like to reach but it is time that I prioritize how to reach them without destroying my relationship with my family.

I love my family and I don’t want to lose them, so even though I have made some changes recently I will make even more time for them to make them feel that I love them very much.

I can relate very much to this because when I was injured and became a quadriplegic 8 years ago, I was focused on recovery. About two years after, I struck a compromise and started living.

I also think it’s important to choose the right goals. If they don’t align well with your lifestyle, then it’s not right for you. Bob probably could’ve chosen a better path to $1 million.

The journey is often far more important and rewarding than the goal; I can say that from experience!

Great post! Many people out there are so focused on making money and buying material things that they don’t have time, or make the time to invest in their relationships.
