A Crash Course On Human Motivation

These five motivational mindsets are so powerful because you create their power through your intentions – through your inner visioning of these personal aspects of self. The five are personality, mind, heart, soul and universe. Each one can be fully activated with just a few minutes of inner focus. Here they are. Take a few minutes to see, feel, hear and sense each one’s full power as they surge through your mind, heart and body:

You are awesome. At a personality level there are unlimited ways you can be and interact with the world. Imagine yourself as a star on the stage of life being big and expressing your unique genius. Living the greatness you are wired for just by being you as fully as you can. The key here is to trust in yourself, let go of the past and live in the joy of the moment. Imagine you being an inspiration to many on the planet.

Your mind is unlimited and your thoughts can set you free.  Anything you can imagine, you can achieve. With the mind’s attention on what you want to create in your life, things happen in amazing ways. The key here is to drop limiting thoughts and beliefs and turn the mind’s power on manifesting what you want. All great things begin as great thoughts. Imagine your mind expanding the collective consciousness of the planet.

Your heart is part of the most powerful force on the planet. That planetary force is love. Love has the ability to answer most of the world problems. If you have an open heart and feel compassion for others you are a gift to all of us. The key here is to be that gift and share love and compassion in all you think, say and do. Imagine the love of your heart warmly covering the Earth and all living beings with loving-kindness.

Your soul is infinite and eternal. That means you come equipped with everything you will ever need in this lifetime to be amazing. Your higher nature has no limits. When you quietly make connection with this part of you, you will discover how powerful you can be. The key is to take time to listen to the quiet still voice of wisdom inside. Imagine yourself enlightened and enlivened by the source of spirit within and spreading your light wherever you go.

You are in the universe and the universe is in you. That means within you is the creative force of the universe. This huge view of who you are challenges you to grow into the power of that possibility. The key is opening in mind and heart to let yourself grow into the realization of your power as source energy. Imagine that the entire universe is inside of you. That changes the whole perspective doesn’t it?

Now just be who you are in this moment as a whirling source of endless energy spreading light, love, joy and inspiration everywhere you go. That is your purpose in case you were wondering.

Very true -  too often we let our thoughts hold us back instead of move us forward.

I love it, Joe! Really great article and definitely words to live by! I find it hard to keep positive motivation in mind every day. You helped remind me that it’s actually easy.

    • http://www.explorelifeblog.com/ Joseph Bernard, Ph.D.

Thanks for the comments Marsha and Erin, it is always a good reminder that we can shape our experiencing in easier ways than we might remember in the moment.

This information was perfect for me to read today. I was beginning to despair at the lack of compassion in the political arena – all the fighting and seemingly no cooperation. The world needs all of us to find our power through our soulful intentions. If we did that, we would be working on solutions and spreading love, light and compassion.

Thanks Peaceful person. What will bring real and positive changes are people in touch with their human capacities like compassion, consciousness, creativity, connection and collaboration. Living in alignment with these qualities is one of the ways motivation can direct us to be even more.

Great affirmations and as you say:  see, feel, hear and sense each one’s full power as they surge through your mind, heart and body. That is what makes all the difference in the world.

The line: ‘Imagine you being an inspiration to many on the planet.’ is huge. So often people don’t do what they want to do or be who they need to be because of what those nearest to them may say – this puts things on a far bigger scale and is truly inspiring – thanks for a great post!

  • Chris

Great post Joseph. You made me take a few minutes out of my busy day to read & reflect quietly.

Thanks Chris and Katherine for the light you bring to reading this so that you can see how powerful it is to be as fully alive as you can be.

I love this post! Especially how you end it “Now just be who you are in this moment as a whirling source of endless energy spreading light, love, joy and inspiration everywhere you go”. So many people go through life without remembering that we ourselves choose our path and make our own happiness. Letting other things get in the way is how we become unhappy and pessimistic. You cannot control how other people act, only how you react. Peacefulness in your own mind can only come from within, and that will lead to a happy life.

    • http://www.explorelifeblog.com/ Joseph Bernard, Ph.D.

Thanks Kelly, I am so glad this was inspirational for you. You can send a link to your friends that can use these ideas. Your comments show great insight and that you have much to share with the world.

    How about this instead

God loves you even though you are unworthy of it. Making you feel awesome regardless of the times when you screw up.

Whatever God wants you to achieve, in his infinite wisdom, you will achieve by his power. You should be content with what God has given you, and prayerful of what you want. Knowing that only God truly knows what’s best for you.

Show love for others, because God has shown love for you. Show God’s love through yourself, so that you can not boast. It it God through you, not of yourself.

Most likely, your wisdom is what got you into this mess in the first place. You are not eternal, but trust in God who is eternal for wisdom.

You are not “the universe” but you serve its creator. The only one worthy of praise, and the one who holds all things together.

All of these, believe because Christ displayed his ultimate act of love on the Cross.. For while we were still sinners Christ died for us. God sent his son in the ultimate act of love for us who don’t deserve it. We can not boast, but we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

    • http://www.explorelifeblog.com/ Joseph Bernard, Ph.D.

Thanks Ryan for sharing your perspective. Whatever works for you. I don’t share the same belief system nor would I expect you to share mine. The beauty is if you are inspired by your beliefs then live them with all your heart.

      • Ryan

Right, wasn’t trying to be hard on anyone here. I find personally that introspective belief systems (those that tell you to access the power within yourself) ultimately fail because people do fail. You can say the power is within you all you want but every now and then you will still fail to meet your goals. We aren’t in complete control over our lives, to say otherwise is just wishful thinking

This means that the best way to live your life is actually extrospectively. Drawing your power from what is outside you. Now, if you do this with friends, family, things, or worse like sex and drugs, then eventually THEY will also fail you. The only thing we can really place our confidence in is God. And if God doesn’t exist, although I believe he does because of Christ, then both mine and your views are just a delusion because neither makes anything imperically better. However mine comes with a take whatever you get mentality while yours comes with a you can do anything mentality, which has in my experience been the source of much frustration in life for many people. I have many friends who are dirt poor after listening to that advice and hate their life. While I am just a college student neither rich noor poor, and perfectly happy and content. I might fail in business but at least I’ll have friends. No wait, they leave and ill have parents right? No they die and what’s left? I have God

again I say this fully in love. I just like when pick the brain offers more scientifically justified self-help. But as a theology minded guy this struck me as a religious post, so I wanted to post a religious comment. No hard feelings!

No hard feelings at all. I appreciate you have a clear point of view. Your truth has to be what is true for you. But it is from a particular perspective that is not universal but more religious in origin. I offered a more generalized perspective. Neither my perspective nor yours is more right.

Truth to me is very individualized. From my close work with human beings over 35 years I have come to realize in the end, if there is a God or not, is not as important as what thoughts you have. If you have negative, blaming and self-judging thoughts, then that is how you experience life. If you have positive, accepting and compassionate thoughts, you are likely to feel more at peace, more motivated.

The idea of a greater power supporting us seems reassuring. Maybe that gives us hope or maybe that higher knowing is within us as creations of the ultimate  creative force. I don’t know. I don’t claim to have all the answers. My work is to invite others to find their own answers.

          Peace to you Ryan,
