Another great reason is that if you die thinking “I could have done that, maybe it WAS possible” that is the worse feeling ever and we all die. Great article!

    Hi Mark,

That’s a brilliant article :) …In this world where people are just blindly moving down the beaten path it is really inspiring to find someone who is relentlessly pursuing his dreams…To achieve your dreams you should listen to your heart and not get bogged down by others who are constantly expressing their doubts…protecting your dreams is a big task in itself…Dreaming big gives you motivation to take action and strength to overcome failures.

Thanks for the post. It reminds me to one of my motivational and inspirational quotes from Mark Twain.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones that you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” – Mark Twain

I love the idea that being a big dreamer makes the world a better place! Sometimes I do wonder if I’m too full of crazy ideas and visions and whether I should just focus on the day-to-day more. I think the key is to find balance – don’t live with your head in the clouds, but don’t be afraid to take a peek and see what’s up there. Who knows how high you can fly if you don’t stick your neck out and take a chance once in a while?

Mark, Thanks for sharing “7 Reasons Why You Need to Be a Big Dreamer”. It’s a great reminder. Also, it’s easier to focus on your dreams when you write them down as a list or post pictures on a dream board. It’s all about focus … with focus comes opportunity.

Mark thank you for the great post. I just posted an article on my inspirational blog that is very similar. If you can learn more about your deep passions, you can begin to think about how to create value for others using your passion as a vehicle.

Very nice post. I dream big and I’ll never stop, it’s one of my main driving forces.

I love this concept of dreaming big! I find it inspiring when I think big and just IMAGINE what is possible. By doing it you can surprise yourself by the types of motivating and positive emotions that can spur you on. Thinking small only creates weak and un-inspired attempts. Thanks for this Mark

I read somewhere “It’s better to dream big and fail to achieve them, than to dream small and achieve them” When we dream big, we get opportunity to learn many important lessons of life.

    Hi Swati,

Yes. In the movie “The Pursuit of Happyness”, Will Smith told his son, “If you have a dream, you’ve got to protect it. Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. Not even me.”

I love this quote. If you have a dream, do whatever it takes to realize it. Don’t die with regrets.

    Cheers~

    Hi Kat,

I’m totally with you on this. The key is to find a balance. One school of thought is that we have to be realistic, while another school believes that we should not set limits on ourselves. My thought is, there should be a balance. Just like Yin & Yang. Everything in this world needs a balance.

    Cheers~

    Hi Susan,

You’re right. Writing things down – be it your dreams, goals, ideas, or thoughts – certainly give you much more clarity and allows you to focus more easily.

    Cheers~

Thank you, Mark. Your article is motivating. It reminded me that I’m not entirely crazy for pursuing some pretty outlandish dreams of my own. In my opinion, it’s better to die trying than not try at all–reagrdless the outcome.

Very well stated. We can create a self-fulfilling prophecy in our lives where are dreams don’t come true because we really don’t believe they can. This isn’t to say that every dream we imagine is a definite possibility but it’s incredible what we can learn about ourselves if we follow our passions. At lease you don’t have to live a life where all you do is wish you could achieve your dreams.

    Take care,

    Guy
