    Thanks for the comment.

Good sound advice. I am sure it has taken most of us more than 19 years to work this out.

The thing that’s great about 1200s is that they last for freaking ever.

As such, if you’re really conscious about money, you can buy a pair used, use them for several years, and then sell them for almost exactly what you bought them for.

Total cost? Cheaper than if you’d bought junk.

It amazes me how many people ring up credit card debt while they are young…Is it really necessary to flaunt your money on trivial, usually disposable items?

    Hi Glen,

Sometimes we have seen people complaining about their lack of money every now and then but they do not take any action to solve their problem. All they do is to keep doing the same thing and keep getting the same result!

A great tip is to keep a budget for the month and keep your spending within it, once that is in place, the 2nd step would be to find ways to expand your income and this 2 steps will ensure you that you can achieve financial freedom in the years to come.

    Cheers

First of all great post, I can really relate to every thing you wrote about. I’ve made all those same mistakes, and many more. I am glad that I did, even though I learned some hard lessons.

It’s often hard for people to control their urge to show off or spend rashly. The problem is usually more than just a matter of self-discipline or self-awareness. In the case of teenagers, it’s often their insecurities pushing them. But it seems, the harder teenagers fall because of their financial blunders, the more memorable the lesson; it’s nature’s way of shaping us up, right before we enter the real world.

Immediate gratification is a big problem that we have to control. How many times do we spend money that we don’t have due to fear of not having what we think we should have?

The 6 things you have noted are true and useful.

    Thanks,
    George

I certainly agree with lesson 5.

Having time to look out the outgoing and incoming is very important.

In my experience, the more aware I have became with my incoming, the more I became persistent in reaching my goals!

    6 Things a 19-Year-Old Has Learned About Finances…

Ever since I was 15 I’ve been coming up with ways to make money. For some reason, I’ve always had the internal belief that I’m going to be very successful when it comes to finances. At 19, having a lot of money isn’t as important to me now as i…

And I think you could add another point. You WILL make mistakes, and it is not the end of the world. Being young and stupid is natural. Just because you wasted all your money on trivia doesn’t mean you can’t recover and have a good money life later on. Being young is about enjoying life and having fun, it can’t all be about money.
