about a year ago i overcame some pretty bad depression in my life but im a better person because of it. i think the biggest reason id consider myself to be happy was because I adopted these 10 attributes.

Not that this isn’t great and all that. It is. I live by most of this stuff. I have borderline as my main problem, though. In any case, great stuff, but I just think it should be noted that better health doesn’t neccesarly mean better life.

For instance, I never had any friends and my family was abusive and neglectful. I was in some deep depression. Multiple suicide attempts. Somehow, I managed to change my life last February and continued changing. I was really proud of the progress I made. I gathered up the muster to ask five guys at my job if they wanted to hang out sometime. All nos. Whether because my extensive scar tissue or because I was gay, none of those dudes wanted to hang with me. Girls would, but I didn’t want to be called at, “hey, girl”. You know, cuz I aint a girl. I don’t talk bout cute boys or whatever. I like to work on my truck and go camping.

So I went back spiraling. I always felt I wasn’t acceptable because I was crazy or gay and then found out it was true. When my birthday and new year’s passed and I was only for the 23 time in a row, I snapped. Angry all January and suicidal. I wanted to be a terrorist, I wanted to hurt people I hurt.

In the end, I found I really had changed last year February. I picked up the pieces and put em back together. I’m enrolled for school and got a better  job. Am I giving up on being accepted? Yes, of course. I’m giving up on people. They’ve always hurt me and the best way to not be hurt is to not put yourself out there. Social abstinence. Is it sad? Yeah. But at least this time its a sadness I chose.

I still fight the suicidal impulses. I don’t know what’s going to happen this year. Which is progress because I knew exactly what was going to happen just a few weeks ago, I was going to end it. I’m returning to this better place of mind and just taking care of my star player, me.

Thats a great list. I think it was Richard Bach who said in the book Illusions – “If your happiness depends on making others happy, then you are in trouble. Something like that. I guess trying to seek happiness in making others happy can sometimes lead to frustration

Nice compilation .    At its core, its the same thing that shows up at many other places, but you put it all together very nicely.  Set of proverbs & sayings were icing on the cake!
